Sample Photos

In order to take reasonable quality pictures for your orthodontist to assess your teeth and bite, please have the following:

  • Smartphone with camera
  • Medium size spoon or your clean fingers
  • Well lit room
Facial Photos (3 photos)

The first one is photo of your face from the front while relaxed. Make sure that you are biting all the way down while taking the photo.The second is a photo of your face from the front while smiling naturally. Again, make sure that you are biting all the way down while taking the photo.The third is a photo of your side profile while looking straight ahead. Again, make sure that you are biting all the way down while taking the photo.
Intra-Oral Photos (5 photos)

The first photo is of your teeth from the front. Bite all the way down the way you normally bite and then try do a Forced maximal smile so your muscles will retract your lips and cheeks and show as much possible of your teeth from the front. If you have anyone to give you a hand, you can use two spoons, one on each side to retract your cheeks and let someone else take the photo for you.For the second and third photos, stay in the same bite as the first picture, but this time you can use your fingers or a medium size spoon to retract one cheek all the way back and with your free hand, take a side shot of your teeth. Repeat for the opposite side.For the second and third photos, stay in the same bite as the first picture, but this time you can use your fingers or a medium size spoon to retract one cheek all the way back and with your free hand, take a side shot of your teeth. Repeat for the opposite side.For the fourth photo, try to told your head slightly up and aim to take a snap shot of your upper teeth arch. You can use a spoon or your fingers to retract your upper lip.For the fifth and last photo, hold your head down, open as wide as you can, then take a snapshot of your lower teeth arch.
